Field Hockey

Field hockey is a popular team sport internationally as well as in Cologne and Germany. The Landesleistungszentrum is host to the Gay Games Field Hockey competition. About 150 athletes will compete on a synthetic surface.
Each team consists of 10 field players and one goalkeeper. The goal is to hit a hard plastic ball into the opposing goal using the flat side of the hockey stick. A Field Hockey match has two 35-minute periods with an unlimited number of substitutions.
At the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010, separate competitions for women and men will be offered.
