Meet a member of Team Oregon 2010.
Name: Tim McNichol
Sport: Road Running
Hometown: Portland, Oregon
I am originally from Western New York. I moved to Portland in 2001. It was a wonderful decision as I am enjoying the city even more with every passing year. I am a social worker with Quest Center for Integrative Health. I have a lot of flexibility in my job that allows me to meet individuals where they are at. Self-care is a very important concept in my life.
Exercise in my life is not work, it is something I believe my body deserves and requires. With this perspective, working out feels more like a release and a treat for the body and mind. Sometimes it isn’t easy to get outside or to the gym but it is totally worth it afterwards.
I have been running with Portland Frontrunners for the past three years. It has been a great opportunity to interact and grow with this group. I enjoy the camaraderie and support that we offer each other.
Cologne is extending its arms to host the Gay Games. Individuals’ coming in from all around the world is so exciting to me. I just want to go running in this beautiful city. I think I don’t have many words for this yet because I just don’t know. What I do know is that it is going to be something to remember for the rest of my life.
